On April 12, 1861 at 4:30 A.M. the first shot of the civil was fired at fort Sumter  at Charleston, South Carolina .  Union troops, were forced to leave the next day.  The U.S. flag was  raised again on February 18, 1865.  The fort was made a moment later on. The most importent thing about this battle was it started the civil war. Fort Sumter is 199 acres. Fort Sumter was built on April 28 1948. The walls at Fort Sumter are Five feet thick and 170 and 190 feet tall. The fort was built for 650 people and 135 guns.
